Is Full-Stack Development A Good Career Choice?
April 02, 2022

Full stack developers are among the most coveted members in today's tech industry. In recent years, many job-seekers have switched to full-stack development as it provides significant job satisfaction. It is a job or title related to programming, which means someone who can develop end-to-end solutions to a particular problem. At times, Full Stack Developer might also refer to developers who are strong in all areas, but not necessary exceptional in a specific discipline. Although they are specialists who know the intricacies of various technologies, at the same time they have extensive knowledge in programming.

This article discusses the advancement of this profession, what skills a developer needs for this career, and why programmers often choose full-stack development as their lifelong occupation from this article. It also talks about the skills, salaries and job hunts that one could expect from a full stack development career.

What does Full Stack development mean?

A Full Stack developer can work on all the layers of development. This includes the client layer, application code and server side code. They have a greater ability to switch between layers of development as they are familiar with them all. They also have an understanding of what is happening from screen to screen because they touched every part of creating that screen. Full Stack developers often design front-end and back-end interfaces as well and some work in web design.

Examples of Full Stack Developers

One of the main ways that people become a full-stack developer is through self-study. They can study languages like Python and Ruby to learn the basics of back-end development, HTML and JavaScript for front-end work, and design tools like Photoshop or Sketch. But this is just one possibility. Another way is by coming from a background in art or design, combining these skills with some back-end development experience gained through internships or side projects since this will put people in good stead when applying for roles where both front-end and back-end development are needed.

Popular full stack development languages and frameworks

React JS: React JS is a JavaScript library that is used for developing user interfaces. It was created by Facebook and Instagram developer, Jordan Walke. React makes use of components to make the creation of apps smoother and easier because it has a modular structure. This also allows developers to reuse code by defining components as its subparts. Learning React involves understanding JSX - a declarative XML-like syntax - as well as DOM manipulation methods by function calls vs delegation methods by selecting an item's id using this node api.

HTML & CSS: HTML and CSS are two markup languages used to create web pages. HTML is what is actually seen on the page, while CSS is used to format HTML. For example, if I wanted my text to be black and white with a red background, I could use the following CSS code: h1 { background-color: red; color: black; } Another difference between HTML and CSS is that HTML cannot have any styling applied to it. This means that all formatting has to occur through the use of classes or id tags.

PHP: PHP is a programming language that is designed to be embedded into HTML. It can be used to create interactive web pages with features such as forms and databases. PHP scripts are usually uploaded to a server when they are complete.  It's often used to develop complex websites and web apps. Developers can create multiple pages and interact with databases using PHP.

MEAN: MEAN stands for Mongo, Express, Angular, and Node. It is a set of web frameworks, including MongoDB, ExpressJS, AngularJS, and Node.js. It is a developer-friendly stack that provides easy scalability and flexibility for web applications. MEAN has become popular in recent years because it allows developers to use similar architecture for any web application project. It also reduces the time needed to create new projects.

Python: Python is a programming language that is widely used for creating programs. It was created out of a need for an easier way to code than with other languages like C++ or Java. One of the easiest aspects of Python is that it uses indentations instead of curly brackets to delimit logical blocks. This makes it possible to write complex programs without sacrificing readability. Python also has many libraries available to use, which allow programmers to perform complicated tasks without needing to code them from scratch.

Why is the need for full-stack developers on the rise?

A full stack developer is an ongoing need in the tech world. The code that this programmer writes can be run on various devices, which can be expected to grow as technology expands. It also means that there's perpetual demand from companies to fill these positions. If a project is implemented carefully, it can produce sustainable growth and increased revenue. Developers need to constantly adapt to changing technology, which leaves an opening for new developers. For companies, the costs associated with contracting and hiring part-time or full-time developers is expensive. With a full stack developer they are being offered trained employees who already have an increased understanding of the technologies that are in use today.
